I've been making a book. I've learned a lot about myself in the process and I want to share an insight with you in hopes that it will inspire you...
Quitting is AWESOME.
For years, I have felt like a loser for quitting stuff. I was always dropping classes, grad programs, social groups, wellness routines, jobs and hobbies.
The aha moment came at like 2 in the morning a few weeks ago. I was in the midst of a sh*t storm:
-My freelance copy editor had just quit- again.
-I reached out to another copy editor, but she was quoting a price FIVE times my budget. Leaving me with no other option, but to edit my book myself (which I totally suck at).
-Mercury in Retrograde had just started. Every astrologists online was advising not to launch anything during this time period. Waiting for the retrograde to pass would mean my book royalties would not be included in my 2014 revenue.
-My lower back chronically ached from long hours spent hunched over my computer re-writing sentences.
-I felt ashamed that I had announced a release date for my book on Facebook and that date had come and gone.
-I had been sleeping in 2-hour increments on my sofa for weeks so I could write throughout the night.
Yet, I didn't want to quit.
I'm in love.
The reason I quit stuff in the past was because I didn't love it.
I'm not a loser. I'm freakin' brilliant. Subconsciously, I've always known that if I didn't love something, I had no other choice but to quit.
Sticking with something you don't love makes you a loser. Be brilliant. QUIT!
You can't make anything happen in your life without love. You have to love it.
Love is what gets you through the inevitable low moments and hiccups.
Love is what inspires you to solve the problems and misunderstandings.
Love is a pain reliever.
Love is a money magnet.
Love is what will motivate you to be better than you ever thought you could be.
Love is what keeps you going.
So my message is simple: If you don't really love it- QUIT. Then wait for something you do love to come along. I promise you, it will.
xoxo,
Amy
