I know this may seem a bit unspiritual, but I LOVE when my clients tell me they are feeling jealousy toward another.
I'm in the business of helping people get what they want. Apart of my intuitive coaching process is helping them get clear about what they actually desire to have in their life.
Jealousy is a clue or sign of what you really want and offers insight as to what actions you can take to get it.
If you're even a little bit spiritual you can sometimes feel guilty about feeling jealous of someone else. It is high on the spiritual "do not do" list.
I agree; jealousy is totally negative. You cannot manifest anything good into your life from a place of jealousy. However, you can use this emotion to shift your perception into something positive. I think jealousy can also serve as an intuitive sign leading you to the life of your dreams.
So the next time you feel jealous:
Ask yourself: Why am I feeling this way? What unfulfilled desire is this feeling triggering? How can I focus my time, energy and attention on getting what I want? What actions can I take now?
Release: Forgive yourself for feeling jealous. Forgive anyone or anything that is directly or indirectly blocking you from having what you want. Forgive yourself for not allowing more good into your life. (Please remember: Jealousy is never about the other person and always about you.)
Affirm: "Good things are happening in my life and I am ready to receive them!"
Instead of sitting in your negative feelings, use your energy to create more joy and happiness in your life.
How this works in practice: Before I moved to the Bay Area 10 years ago, I was working as a staffing consultant placing people in temporary jobs. A big part of my success in that job was my ability to build rapport with my candidates. I was deeply invested in their success and as a result they shared a lot of information about themselves with me.
Many of my candidates were people who could not commit to a permanent job because they were moving in the near future. Any time a candidate shared with me that they were moving to San Francisco or moving away to attend graduate school (particularly if it was a creative degree), I would feel a ping of jealousy.
Over and over, I continued to hear San Francisco and grad school. Each time the ping of jealousy became stronger and stronger. I want to tell you that I caught the hint right away, but I didn't. I didn't do anything about it until one night I was having a conversation with my mom. I was expressing to her my deep discontent with my life. While on the surface my life looked awesome- I was rocking my job (highest sales in that position in the history of the company) and I had a great place to live in a very posh neighborhood of LA, I was deeply unhappy.
My mom asked me: What would you do if you could anything? I immediately blurted out: Go to graduate school for creative writing. Then she said: Where would you go to grad school? Again, I blurted out: San Francisco. An action plan was born: I would go to grad school for creative writing in San Francisco. 6 months later, I was enrolled in a MFA program for creative writing in SF. The pings of jealousy were just signs of my Divine truth being revealed to me. This is the positive side of jealous in motion.
(For your ego- Yes, there are many more twists and turns in the story. I wasn't suddenly crazy happy once I landed in the city by the Bay. Yes, I started and stopped 4 different grad programs since I've been here. However, the action plan did lead me to finding my life partner and starting a highly creative business helping people get what they want. Both of which, offer me way more happiness than I ever imagined possible.)
With joy,
Amy
